Updatus Maximus - Swine, Boxrooms and stuff
Well what a difference a week makes... You may have noticed that in previous posts I was speaking about feeling rough or "fluey" well I was closer than I knew to the truth as I was diagnosed with Swine flu. The double irony was that I'd been an active proponent of Swine flu being basically slow news day scaremongering by the media... So the fact I got it was some deity giving me a big "fuck you hahaha" if I believed in such things... But given how I've already stitched myself up with my big mouth I'll leave the existence (or not) of god out of this for my own safety in a thunderstorm.
Anyway as far as the Swine flu is concerned its not as bad as all that, it feels like...er.....flu.... It only gets a bit bad if you're stupid enough to get chucked in to a swimming pool by lake with a 30mph cross wind and stand in very wet clothing for 20 mins....
Anyway away from the chuffin swine flu theres been some Me-De-Ahhhh activity chez Medcalf with the sudden inclusion as three week running surprise guest at the genius podcast The Boxroom which you can listen too here or subscribe to it over iTunes just search for Box Room. Consequently, I've been my usual waffling opinionated self and I'm surprised I've made it to three shows without Marty & Jen saying "We can't get a fucking word in edgeways" and telling me to sod off...
Yet they haven't and in the last 24 hours the Adult Swim UK channel website has voted the podcast Geeks of the Week on their blog I'm not going to imply its got anything to do with my appearance on the podcast its a damn fine podcast and rightly deserves any endorsement it gets with or without my gob getting in the way....
This month saw Sci Fi Now magazine publish my "Complete Guide To Return of the Jedi" which I was quite proud of. Its out in the stores now and I'm looking forward to my next "Complete Guide..." in next months issue which is for Blade Runner, keep an eye out for it...
Other than that, I'm off to see Quentin Tarrantino's new film Inglorious Basterds tomorrow but in much the same way as Star Trek theres an NDA the size of a telephone book I have to sign and I'll be stuffed if I say anything about it... So I'll have to wait to say anything about it which chaps my ass something rotten...
Meanwhile I'm still trying to get a handle on exactly what my new job entails and as soon as I know you'll know, if only so I can note it down as a reminder here.

Yup loads of redundancies and worry culminated in this view. Admitedly this panorama shot doesnt sell it well but needless to say for the moment things are looking up. I hope once the job kicks off in earnest I won't be chucking myself out of this window.
